This page informs you about the development concerning the software for aluminum smelting. It contains a listing of the modification on this web site (now espicially concerning the new interactive web pages) and changes of the PC-programs (AlPrg modules, ATab).
February 12th, 2012: the new page layout of the Electrolyte Properties pages are hopefully more user-friendly.
August 4th, 2011: after several trials and detours the Cell Voltage pages are reasonably stable. Please have a look at them.
May 8th, 2011: working on and looking through all these theoretical and practical web pages might become sometimes tedious and even boring. Please look at the Recreation page, perhaps it will help a little bit.
February 11th, 2011: slide shows are modern as you certainly have noticed looking at the Home Page or at the schematic cross section of an Industrial Cell. After several detours the Concentration Converter seems to be stable.
November 12th, 2010: a new Energy Consumption interactive web page with Haupin type diagram was installed.
November 1st, 2010: Start with Examples and Exercises. Perhaps you will like this Slide Show.
October 15th, 2010: down and upload of XML-files installed (see AlWeb: Introduction).
September 24th, 2010: a new Electrolyte Properties interactive web page together with the corresponding diagrams was published on the web site.
August 23rd, 2010: Greenhouse Gases a real new interactive web page in the sense that AlPrg does not contain a corresponding program page.
August 15th, 2010: some new interactive web pages: see Table of Contents.
July 15th, 2010: new interactive web pages with additional assets are available: if you are logged in with a user name the system remembers your data when you log in the next time with the same user name. The whole project is under construction.
April 3rd, 2010: some of the theory pages are online again, however password protected.
February 23rd, 2010: the content of the theory pages will be reorganized. Sorry, some links won't work.
February, 2010: Dr. Marc Dupuis (GeniSim Inc, Jonquière, Canada) and Peter Entner (PE Software & Consulting) agreed to collaborate especially concerning the organization and realization of seminars with workshops for aluminum smelting.
January, 2010: publication about ATab.
October 30, 2009: you may download ATab 2.0.
October 1st, 2009: the user's guide for ATab Version 2.0 is finished.
June, 2009: We were informed that a new Aluminum Smelting Process website was created. We suggest that you visit this very interesting and informative pages about the art to produce aluminum.
March 20, 2009: Download ATab PC-Program Version 1.0.0.
March 16, 2009: International Version pages removed. It is a linguistic task to create localized program versions and no more a technical problem.
March, 2009: the long interruption of news reports is due to the following events: The migration to Visual Studio 2008 and using MFC feature pack caused problems especially deploying the software to Windows XP or Vista machines. Therefore the Cell Voltage DEMO version had to be withdrawn. The decision which package to use for 3D drawings (OpenGL or DirectX) caused many detours and jumps back and forth. This web sites is under reconstruction. Please be patient if during the next days (hopefully not weeks) you may observe inconsistencies of the contents of some pages.
January, 2009: withdrawal of the DEMO version because of installation problems.
July, 2008: Download of Cell Voltage DEMO version.
May, 2008: Layout Anode Table Interactive Webpage (you need the Silverlight plugin).
January, 2008: Electrolyte Properties Interactive Webpage.
December, 2007: Introduction of Interactive Webpages (WebAlPrg): Alumina Feeding.
October 24, 2007: Alumina Feeding Page and Alumina Feeding Diagrams.
October 15, 2007: The Profitability Analysis pages are completely redone.
August 28, 2007: Home Page without Scripting (no slide down menus like on this page).
August 24, 2007: Cell Geometry Diagrams.
July 13, 2007: Haupin Diagrams.
June 2007: Theory Cell Voltage, Ohmic Bath Voltage, Electrochemical Bath Voltage, Cell Geometry Page.
May 5, 2007: Name Index.
April, 2007: Again the work on the web site had to be interrupted: Microsoft Vista provoked quite some effort. To develop a program version that runs on Windows XP and Vista took at least four weeks (see, for instance manifest hell). A paper was published [Lit.] and an Aluminum Electrolysis Seminar took place.
January, 2007: After a long interruption the work on the Cell Voltage Pages is finished. If you want to know, for instance, the voltage set values after a current increase keeping the heat losses constant you can get the answer by this new version.
August 25, 2006: Electrolyte Properties Diagrams.
August 20, 2006: Electrical Conductivity.
August 3, 2006: Electrolyte Properties (AlPrg).
June - July, 2006: investigating the introduction of MS Visual Studio 2005.
June 8, 2006: Slide Down Menus.
May 11, 2006: Liquidus Temperature.
Begin April 2006: Start of this Development News Page.
