Introduction

On the Alumina Feeding Interactive Webpage you determine the alumina feeder setting (Feeding Frequency or Feeding Period) for a Alumina Feeding Phase. An Alumina Feeding Phase is a time period with constant feeding frequency. WebAlPrg opens the Alumina Feeding Webpage with default values and you may change values in the active (white) fields (time period, start and end alumina concentration, for instance). Then you hit the carriage control key on your keyboard or you press the Calculate button with the mouse pointer. WebAlPrg shows then the calculation results in the inactive (yellow) fields (Feeding Frequency, Feeding Period).

On the Alumina Feeding Webpage you determine the setting of the alumina feeders (feeding frequency) to influence the alumina concentration in the electrolyte. A feeding phase is a time period with a constant setting of the alumina feeders. First you change the default values in the active (white) fields. Then you hit the carriage control key on your keyboard or you press the Calculate button with the mouse pointer. WebAlPrg shows then the calculation results in the inactive fields.

Select the Input Fields

To activate other fields for input you open the Input Dropdown List Box:

Input Dropdown List Box.

With this dropdown list box you select a feeding phase item you want as an input value in place of the end alumina concentration.

The next figure shows that you have selected Alumina Addition as input value. The Alumina Addition field is activated (white) and the End alumina concentration field is inactivated (yellow) i.e. its value is a calculation result.

Input Alumina Addition.

After you have selected Alumina Addition as input value its input field is activated (white) and the End alumina concentration input field is inactivated (yellow). You changed the alumina addition value to 200 %Al2O3theor. i.e. the alumina feeders add twice as much alumina as the electrolytic cell is consuming. Consequently the alumina concentration increases during 130 minutes from 2.0 % to 3.8 % .

After you have entered 200 %Al2O3theor. alumina addition WebAlPrg calculates new feeding frequency and feeding period values. The feeding frequency is doubled and the alumina concentration increases during the 130 minutes of the alumina feeding phase from 2.0 % to 3.8 %.

Examples

WebAlPrg opens the Alumina Feeding Interactive Webpage with default values: 100 % alumina addition i.e. constant alumina concentration with time. Several typical examples have been prepared. When you click on the following links WebAlPrg opens the Alumina Feeding Webpage containing the values of the corresponding example.

Example 1: Increase of the Alumina Concentration from 2.0 % to 4.0 in a Time Period of 90 minutes.

Example 1.

When you click on the link to Example 1 WebAlPrg calculates the parameters of an alumina feeding phase to increase the alumina concentration from 2.0 % to 4.0 % in 90 minutes.

Example 2: Alumina Feeding: 200 % Al2O3 theor. (200 percent of the theoretical alumina consumption).

Example 2.

In Example 2 WebAlPrg shows what happens during 130 minutes when you increase the alumina addition to 200 % of the theoretical consumption.
