AlPrg shows schematically the technical layout of the electrolytic cell in consideration in diagrams representing a top view, a cross section. AlPrg uses the data of the Cell Geometry Page.

The Top View Diagram shows the dimensions of the cell cavity and how the anodes are arranged in the electrolytic cell.
|
Top View Diagram. This diagram shows how the anodes are arranged in the cell cavity in consideration of their distance to the cell long and short sides. |
On the Cross Section Diagram you see not only the arrangement of the anodes (distance to the long side and at the center of the cell) but also parameters of cell operation (height of the electrolyte, of the metal pad and of the bottom sludge). AlPrg draws the diagrams in the right proportions using the values shown in the Cell Geometry Page i.e. if you change a value on Cell Geometry Page AlPrg redraws the corresponding diagrams using the new parameters.
|
Cross Section Diagram. On this diagram you see the values of cell layout values like some distances of the anodes to the electrolysis cell and some cell operation parameters like the heights of the electrolyte, of the metal pad and the bottom sludge. |
Similar to the cross section the Transversal Section Diagram shows layout values (anode and slanted side block distances and dimensions) and cell operation values (interpolar distance and side ledge thickness). AlPrg takes the value of the Interpolar Distance from the Cell Voltage Page.
|
Transversal Section Diagram. This diagram represents anode and slanted side block dimensions and the values of the interpolar distance and the side ledge thickness. |
If you click with the mouse pointer on the center anodes of the cross or transversal sections AlPrg shows schematically the dimensions of the anode butts.
|
Dimensions of the Anode Butts. After you have clicked with the mouse pointer on the anode of the cross or transversal sections AlPrg shows the length, width and height of the anode butts. Please note that the cell of this figure shows no bottom sludge or side board. The cell lining is made of one vertical side block. |
Obviously when you click again on the anodes of the AlPrg draws the diagram with new anodes.
Inert anodes are made of different shapes, metal or ceramic cylinders for instance. AlPrg simulates the shape of these inert anodes by a rectangular prism to obtain the appropriate surface and volume for the calculation of cell voltages and height and mass of the electrolyte.
AlPrg uses and saves different values for the number, length, width and height of the carbon anodes and inert anodes.
Similar to the Haupins Diagrams AlPrg tells you the items name when you move the mouse over its dimension value. Being over a dimension value the mouse pointer changes its shape to a question mark. The next figure shows some examples of such popup windows:

Examples of Information Popup Windows. When you move the mouse pointer over a dimension value the cursor changes its form to a question mark and AlPrg shows the name of the item in a small window. |
